Ricci got her first recognition and applause as a child actress for her role as Wednesday Addams on The Addams Family (1991) as well as Addams Family Values (1993) and also for her character as Kat Harvey in Casper (1995). Ricci's move into adult roles was first seen in The Ice Storm in 1997, and was followed by her highly acclaimed performance as The Opposite of Sex in 1998 for which Ricci won the Golden Globe nod for Best Actress.
