Julia Fiona Roberts was born in Atlanta on October 28, 1967 as the daughter of Betty Lou Bredemus and Walter Grady Roberts. Her family is the fourth Roberts family who been a resident of Atlanta. The story began with her great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts who was an agriculturalist. The Robertses' father was interested in the theatre at a young age. While a student at Emory University he appeared in various productions both in and outside of campus. After he enlisted in the Air force in Biloxi, he was seen together with Betty Lou Bredemus in Biloxi. The two married in 1955 and the couple's first child Eric Anthony was born in 1956. Walter went to Tulane University New Orleans Louisiana after he left the Airforce in the year 1957. Walter started working at Atlanta Academy Theater and Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio in 1960. In 1964 Walter along with Betty Lou began production on a local children's Saturday morning TV show named Bum Bum and His Buddies which they financed on their own. They also created the six-year Actors and Writers Workshop later in the year. The couple also had two children, Lelisa Billingsley (1965) (also called Lisa) as well as Julia Billingsley (1967) (also know as Julie).
